So the number of planets taken over could be larger than the given number of smaller by a factor of 40 (estimated by rough max hives on earth). We don't know a lot of specifics, as how many superordinates are there per planet, if a completely mined planet maintains a superordinate or if all hive reactors were counted in that number. The number was really big, as in a large power of 10. In Alternative, the Superordinate gives an estimate of the current BETA Superordinates. How many planets have the BETA taken over? It is possible - and likely- that it is just a more advanced alien civilization that just happened to be silicon based instead of carbon based. I don't think the answer would be that surprising. Who are the silicon based life forms/Creators? As said above, we have similiar concepts theorized IRL. They were build as an automated, self-expanding mining system to provide resources for their creators. Now that we know that the BETA are like our Von-Neumann-mining machines, we can make well educated guesses about the answers to your questions: With the obvious difference that we don't have the technology level yet and that it would be silicon-based, our Von-Neuman-Mining machines would be exactly like the BETA for a silicon species, assuming we too mess up our definition of "life". The way the creators of the BETA think is apparently really similar to our own and we actually had our own version of the BETA conceptualized even before the first MuvLuv-game came out.

Why am I writing this? Because it shows that the most important aspects of the beta would be the same if humanity and the silicon-species switched places. In a way, MuvLuv confronts us with the result of our actions should we ever create something beta-like with a too narrow definition of life. And just as we'd define (non-AI) life for a computer as carbon-based, the creators of the beta defined it as silicon-based, which caused the conflict shown in MuvLuv Unlimited and Alternative. Their scientists concluded that carbon is too reactive to form life, just as ours (I think) believe that silicon is not reactive enough to form life. They developed technology using carbon-based computers instead of silicon-based ones, likely because they found it weird to build a computer out of their definition of flesh. That is to say that the BETA's existence and behavior can be explained with our current IRL knowledge, plans and theories if we just make a single change in our perspective, the same one mentioned in Alternative: Our definition of life.įor recap: The creators of the beta were silicon based lifeforms. I believe that Alternative is based heavily on perspective. Still, I believe these questions can be roughly answered with our knowledge from Alternative. Data Intelligence Amplified.Hopefully MuvLuv Integral, the next mainline MuvLuv game, will answer those questions.
